What is an e-textbook?
An e-textbook is a textbook that has been put into a digital electronic format equivalent to a conventionally printed book. The electronic file that contains the e-textbook must be downloaded to a personal computer or dedicated hardware, known as an "e-book reader" in order to be read.

The advantages of updating and formatting the current human RBTI text into an e-textbook publication are many. More particularly, while allowing for the use of full color at no cost, it also allows the reader to do electronic word searches. An electronic book is very cost effective to produce and is environmentally friendly. E-books offer the information to be more readily available to a reader with disabilities as the print size can be electronically adjusted on the computer. Additionally, it makes possible for having the text read out loud through the computer itself, provided the individual's software has that capability.

By the way, this is the first RBTI textbook to be put into a "digital" e-book format. We know you will enjoy as well as profit from its use.
What kind of computer do I need to use this RBTI e-textbook?
Any personal computer (PC) that is running a Windows operating system along with a version of Adobe's ACROBAT READER software.

Additionally, this e-textbook can be read on any Macintosh computer able to run Microsoft's Virtual PC (i.e., G3, G4 & G5 models), as well as the newest Intel dual core Macintosh's, which can run Windows software along with a Windows version of Adobe's ACROBAT READER.

Will I need an active internet connection once I have downloaded the RBTI e-textbook?
Yes! You will need an active internet connection for the steps listed below:

  1. First complete the purchase process through PayPal.

  2. PLEASE NOTE: If you are receiving a free or complimentary copy of the RBTI e-Textbook, please watch your e-mail inbox for an e-mail from Advanced Ideals with subject "Download Notice" that contains the download link for your companion RBTI e-Textbook.

  3. After completion of the purchase, a window will appear asking you to submit your e-mail address enabling Advanced Ideals Institute to send you an e-mail "Download Notice" containing the download link for your RBTI e-Textbook.

  4. Once you have received the "Download Notice" e-mail, select the hard drive to which you want to save the downloaded file, then click on the download link in the e-mail to start the download process. It is a large file, so it will take a bit of time depending on your internet connection speed.

  5. If you have virus protection software running in the background on you computer, it is best to turn it off before proceeding with the next steps. Operating virus software can interfere with installation of the RBTI e-Texbook password validation and opening process.

  6. When the download is finished, you will have a special encrypted file name "RBTI_e-Text.exe" on your Desktop, or other location on your hard drive that you chose, that is ready for validation and opening.

  7. Double click on the RBTI_e-Text.exe file. After a short wait, a "Download Validation" window will open asking you to submit the same e-mail address you first used in the initial completion of your purchase process.

  8. Upon submitting that proper e-mail address in the "Download Validation" window, a brief purchase validation process begins.

  9. Once your purchase is validated, a "Thank You" window opens containing a (CASE-SENSATIVE) password along with the "Key #" that the password is connected to. Be sure to keep track of not only the PASSWORD, but also the KEY # that it is tied to. CLICK HERE to see what this window looks like.

  10. In the "Thank You" window there is also a LINK that you will click on that opens a small window where you will enter the (Case-Sensative) PASSWORD. Please follow the instructions to submit your case-sensative password. After you have submitted your case-sensative password, Acrobat Reader takes over to do the final opening of your e-Textbook. During this process you will see another password window open that looks like this. (Click Here to see it and read instructions about this password window.) THE INSTRUCTIONS TELL YOU TO LEAVE THIS PASSWORD WINDOW ALONE! DO NOT TRY TO ENTER ANY PASSWORDS IN THIS WINDOW! .

  11. When the validation and opening of the "RBTI_e-Text.exe" file is complete, this will always be the file you click on when you want to reopen and use your RBTI e-Textbook. Each time you click to activate it and use it, you will see a password window open and the password will be automatically filled in just before the file opens in Acrobat Reader. MAKE SURE YOUR "CAPS LOCK" ON YOUR COMPUTER KEY BOARD IS OFF DURING THIS AUTO PASSWORD FILL IN, OR A "WRONG PASSWORD" WILL RESULT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUT YOUR VALIDATION (9 digit) PASSWORD IN THE AUTO PASSWORD WINDOW (the second password window), IT WILL STOP THE E-TEXT FROM OPENING. ALWAYS LEAVE THIS PASSWORD WINDOW ALONE!!! We stongly suggest that you look at the pictorial summary of what will be seen during the e-Text download and opening process CLICK HERE. This is a very helpful page, so be sure to take a look at it to help you see what will appear during the opening process.

  12. ARE YOU HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH PASSWORD VALIDATION AND OPENING YOUR E-TEXT? Some virus software and firewall software running in the background of various Windows operating systems, can disrupt password insertion, validation and extraction/opening of your RBTI e-Text from its encrypted file (RBTI_e-Text.exe). The download and installation of your e-Text is similar to other software that requires virus software to be turned off before installation.

    AND/OR: Are you running the WINDOWS VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM? If so, you need to learn about the Program Compatibility Wizard by CLICKING HERE:

What do you mean a "special encrypted file?"
The RBTI e-textbook is delivered in a file that is strongly encrypted with 128-bit encryption. Essentially this means, when you receive your copy of the encrypted RBTI e-textbook, you will only be able to use the e-textbook in a certain manner because of specific digital copyright protection. Specifically, the RBTI e-textbook will be fully available for reading, study and searching, but you will not be able to print or copy it . A HARD COPY of the e-Textbook is available.
What else is important for me to be aware of?
••• The e-mail that you will receive containing the download link comes from service@advancedideals.org. Please, make sure that the email from service@advancedideals.org does not get blocked or stopped by your email server as spam or you will not receive your download link. If you do not receive your download link as expected, first check your spam and junk mail folders.

••• If your computer hardware gets updated or modified, this can sometimes cause the "RBTI_e-Text.exe" file not to function correctly. If this happens and you attempt to open and use your e-Text, you will get a message that says: "Attention: The Internet occasionally suffers system failures.  If you have already paid for your password do not pay again.  Please email service@advancedideals.org  Include your purchase info and ask for password ID# (here will be a number)." Follow the message's instructions to get your needed password to reopen your e-Text file.

••• Do not create a Windows "shot cut" file for your desktop to open the e-Text file in another location on your hard drive. The "RBTI_e-Text.exe" file will interpret that as if its name has been altered, preventing the "RBTI_e-Text.exe" file from functioning correctly.

••• Are you running the WINDOWS VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM on you PC? If so, you need to learn about the Program Compatibility Wizard by CLICKING HERE:

Will I be able to place a copy of the my RBTI e-Textbook file on another computer? Yes, you can copy the downloaded e-Text file ("RBTI_e-Text.exe") to another computer or even send it a friend, BUT, in order to open and use it, you or your friend will need to purchase another password from Advanced Ideals Institute for $45. If you would like to have the e-textbook on a second computer, just copy and paste the "RBTI_e-Text.exe" file as usual. Once you have pasted the file to another computer, double click on the file as you did to open your first download, then follow the prompts to purchase another password to make that copy useable.
What can cause my RBTI e-Textbook file to not function correctly after it has been opened?
•••The opened and usable e-Text file is named "RBTI_e-Text.exe". If the name of the file is altered in any way, your e-Textbook will not function.
•••Attempting to put a password in the Acrobat's auto password window will prevent Acrobat from opening the e-Textbook. Acrobat's auto password window will be seen on the initial validation and opening of your e-Textbook and then everytime you open to use it after that. NEVER, NEVER attempt to put anything in this window or you will get a message saying "wrong password" and Acrobat Reader will not open your e-Text.     ALSO PLEASE TAKE NOTE: If you have not received your e-mail within a short time, there is usually one reason. Your purchase transaction has not been fully completed by PayPal. This happens because there was no address given that PayPal could confirm via their records. If a purchaser's address cannot be confirmed by PayPal, it requires Advanced Ideals Institute to manually accept the payment, by manually going to their PayPal account.
